About Elizabeth

Hello I’m Liz
I’m a very warm, empathic and calming therapist. I can guarantee you’ll feel at home and comfortable with me in no time, allowing trust to be built quickly. Nothing shocks me, so I encourage honesty and transparency. I will give the same of course. I’m a challenging and collaborative therapist who wants you to achieve your goals, so I may gently push you at times to look at a situation differently or challenge/face your defence mechanisms that may be keeping you in a cycle of drama, anxiety or sadness. Therapy might feel hard sometimes but it’s a journey you won’t regret, you’ll learn many aspects of yourself you’ve never known before, i honestly care deeply about getting to where you want to be!

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

I have had a very colourful past! From years of abuse to addiction to toxic relationships, falling victim and relying on my defence mechanisms to keep me safe! Of course we know defence mechanisms only keep us in the cycle. One day i had enough after leaving my house and marriage with my 4 month old daughter and went to therapy, 6 months in and my therapist said id make a wonderful therapist, she commented on how emotionally intelligent i was! Compliments were hard for me to take! Therapy gave me strength and validation, i learnt about parts of myself i never knew were there. So i signed up to my first year of 5 years of training and qualified when my daughter was 6 years old. I've never looked back.

Why do you think integrative therapy is the most effective form of therapy?

I think it depends what your client is bringing but for me CBT intrests me greatly, we are what we think! By looking at a clients behaviour can tell me a lot about the way they see the world and pepole in it. Psychodynamic therapy of course helps to connect past to present and is so valid in helping our clients to understand why they react the way they do to certain situations.

How would you describe your therapy session & approach?

My therapy sessions are warm, calm and thought provoking. I'm a challenging therapist who is proudly collaborative and determined to help untangle, understand memories, thoughts and feelings. I work with CBT, NLP techniques, Person centred and the Psychodynamic approach.

What are your Top 3 professional achievements so far?

Running group therapy for my local community and it being filmed for a BBC documentary. Running a 12 year successful practice Helping many SEN young adults grow and step into the big bad world!
