I have always worked in the support and advice sector. One of my previous jobs was in family support for a charity supporting families with children with life threatening illness, previous to that I have been a citizens advice worker and further education advice worker. I believe in empowering ourselves with knowledge to make decisions. I believe in the true power of being heard, felt and connected and all of this can be found in the therapeutic relationship. Training to become a counsellor was one of the most challenging but empowering experiences. I believe that seeking the support of a counsellor can help you work through any challenges that you are facing, it often can be a difficult process but I always feel it is a privilege to work alongside each and everyone client.
Integrative therapy uses varied techniques which I feel allows for a tailored approach to each person. I have a particular interest in helping clients understand the neuroscience behind anxiety and depression and helping clients to find ways to bring calm and hope into their lives. The intergrative approach allows for all these therapeutic approaches to be adopted rather than a one size fits all therapy approach.
I am an integrative counsellor which means I incorporate a number of different ways of thinking into my work depending on what you, the client needs. You might not know where to start when you first come to counselling so please don't worry, it is my job to make you feel comfortable. Sessions last for an hour and I offer both short term and long terms counselling. I tailor my support to your situation and can use various approaches including Emotional Freedom Tehnique (Tapping), Psychoeducation on anxiety, a trauma informed approach, Cognitive Behavioural Techniques. However, at the heart of my work is building a trusting relationship and encouraging you to think about what you want to achieve from counselling and work towards meeting your goals.
