I began nursing in 1979 and really enjoyed being with and around people. As the years went by I became increasingly aware that I wanted to spend more time with my patients. Talking, listening to their concerns and supporting them through major life changing events. During a traumatic time in my personal life, I had my own experience of counselling. It had such a positive and motivating effect on my life that it encouraged me to pursue counselling as a career. I am a relational counsellor, the relationship I share with my clients is very important. I create a caring, supportive and empathic environment enabling my clients to work in a way that helps them gain insight to their inner strengths. This strength aids them to engage in making choices to positive change. These changes enable clients to feel fulfilled and satisfied in life and also creating meaning and trust in not only the relationship they have with themselves, but also the relationships they share with others.
In therapy I believe one size does not fit all. We are all unique and I will help you explore a range of approaches that will suit your needs. Your relationships with others is important, but what is paramount is the relationship you have with yourself.
Your therapy session will be a partnership. I will always have your best interests at heart and will be with you every step of the way. I am genuine and congruent which is a unique experience as this will build trust between us and develop a therapeutic alliance for a safe space for you to be 'just you'.
