About Meryn

I help anxious, lost & overwhelmed millennials to feel good enough by nurturing self worth via supportive online therapy.
I work collaboratively with you to support you in your emotional wellbeing, to help you develop skills in self-care and to foster a deeper understanding of yourself.
My role is to meet you where you are and support you in your growth and healing.
Maybe you are struggling with intense feelings and do not have a safe place to share these, or maybe you are isolated & lonely and feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you just feel lost and confused and don't know where to begin? I work with people to understand what their emotions are trying to tell them and together we work out how you can move forwards.
I believe that we all hold our own truth and answers within and that we all deserve the space and support needed to understand ourselves better and to overcome our insecurities. I believe that with the right nurturing and safe environment we can heal from hurt, grow and develop into the best versions of ourselves.
Only you have the answers you are seeking, only you know yourself and what your own personal truth is. I want to invite you to share your story with me. When we share our stories we feel heard, validated and understood and this can be incredibly therapeutic and healing. This healing process will help you to a place where you understand more about yourself, and you may find solutions to the things holding you back, allowing you to bloom into your full potential.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

I chose to become a therapist as I had struggled for many years with low self esteem, feelings of inadequacy & depression and I saw so many people around me struggling with similar things. I wanted to understand what was going on and how I could help myself and others to feel better. I find the brain & mind fascinating and I love working with people so as soon as I began my training I knew it was what I wanted to do. This work feels like my calling and I am honoured every day that I get to witness the courageous growth of my clients.

Why do you think integrative therapy is the most effective form of therapy?

I chose to train as an integrative therapist because I believe that humans are all so different and unique we all need different things to support & nurture us. Understanding many different approaches to therapy allows me to treat you holistically as a whole human being, tailoring my approach to you and blending different psychological theories & techniques to suit your needs. I believe this gives clients the best therapeutic process as it is truly to unique to you and your life!

How would you describe your therapy session & approach?

I'm a human first, therapist second. I say this because, in therapy good outcomes are often attributed to the quality of the relationship between client and therapist, you need to click, there needs to be connection. I believe this is the case with all healing, growth and development. We grow in connection with other human beings, we can't do it alone & isolated. This is core to my approach and how I work. I always try to be my authentic self with you and I hope within the safe therapeutic space you are able to do the same. I am a real person, with likes and dislikes, I like to laugh and joke, I also like to read psychological theory & textbooks. I bring all of this to the therapy room, I am me. I listen to your story, then I help you to understand your story and together we find a way of retelling the narrative that gives different insights and perspectives. We won't solely focus on the difficult experiences you've been through, it is important that we process these and then find hope and a way to move forwards. I believe that with the right care, attention and nurturing we will all grow, develop and bloom. My core model is the person-centred approach which means that I always trust you as the expert on your life and take your direction. We work at your pace, I am there to help and facilitate, not direct you or tell you what to do. My focus is always on creating a safe, confidential environment where you can explore anything and everything without fear of being judged.
