What we do and do not claim
Said plainly, so you know where you stand.
Take a Seat is young. We are not going to dress up what we are. We are a small team with a long background in preventive health who recommend clinicians we rate, and we help you get to the right one faster than a search engine would.
We do not run background checks, we do not hold copies of insurance certificates, and we do not audit anyone's clinical outcomes. Any clinician you speak to is an independent practitioner, responsible for their own registration, indemnity cover and standard of care. We show you where they are registered so you can verify them yourself in about a minute, and we would encourage you to.
Six things we hold to
What actually decides who appears here.
Experience first
Registered practice
Talk to them directly
Prices shown as POA
One portrait standard
Sourced numbers only
Experience first
We have spent over ten years around preventive and mental health care in the UK. Every clinician here is someone we would point a friend towards, chosen on judgement and reputation rather than a form filled in online.
Registered practice
We ask every clinician for the professional register they practise under, HCPC, BACP, UKCP, GMC, NMC, GPhC or equivalent, and we show it on their profile so you can look it up yourself.
Talk to them directly
There is no gatekeeping and no middle layer. Profiles carry the clinician's own contact route, so the first conversation is with the person you would actually see.
Prices shown as POA
Fees are set by the clinician, not by us, and they change with session length and format. Rather than publish a number that goes stale, we show POA and let you ask them.
One portrait standard
Every published portrait meets the same minimum, at least 800px on the short edge and a 4:5 crop. If a photo does not meet it, the profile stays hidden until we have one that does.
Sourced numbers only
Waiting times and prevalence figures on this site link out to the published NHS or peer reviewed source they came from. If we cannot source it, we do not say it.
How a profile gets here
From a name we trust to a live page.
Most of our clinicians come to us through people we already work with. We speak to them, write up their specialisms in plain English, link their register entry, and publish only once the portrait meets our standard. It is slow on purpose, and we say no often.
If you ask for an introduction
What happens next.
You can always contact a clinician yourself using the details on their profile. If you would rather we did it, request an introduction and we pass your name, what you are looking for and how to reach you straight to them, usually the same working day.
We take no commission and no booking fee, so nothing about who we suggest is influenced by money. You pay the clinician their own rate, directly, and the relationship is yours from there.
Our commitment
If we would not send someone we love to a clinician, they do not belong on this site.
