What ADHD assessors do at Take a Seat
ADHD assessors at Take a Seat conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments using validated tools (DIVA-5, ACE+, Conners) alongside developmental history, collateral information and functional impact mapping. You'll deliver clear, written reports that families and GPs can act on, and contribute to shared-care recommendations where appropriate.
Who we're looking for
- Clinical or counselling psychologists, psychiatrists or specialist nurses with ADHD diagnostic training
- Clinicians comfortable with both adult and paediatric pathways (or specialising in one)
- A consultative, non-pathologising approach grounded in NICE NG87 and BPS guidance
- Experience writing diagnostic reports that are accessible to non-clinicians
Qualifications and registration
- HCPC, GMC or NMC registration in good standing
- Postgraduate training in ADHD assessment (DIVA, ADOS adjacents, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience in neurodevelopmental assessment
- DBS Enhanced clearance (we can support if needed)
Responsibilities
- Conduct structured diagnostic interviews and synthesise multi-source data
- Produce diagnostic reports within 10 working days of assessment
- Liaise with GPs to support shared-care prescribing where clinically indicated
- Contribute to ongoing service quality reviews and peer supervision

Is this a permanent role or contracted?
Most ADHD assessors join on an associate (self-employed) basis with a guaranteed minimum referral volume. Salaried options are available for clinicians taking on supervisory responsibilities.
Do I need experience with both adults and children?
No, we have separate adult and paediatric pathways, and you can opt into either or both based on your training and preference.
What assessment tools do you use?
DIVA-5 for adults, ACE+ and Conners for children, alongside developmental history and functional impact mapping. Reports follow a standard Take a Seat template aligned with NICE NG87.
