About Cherisse

During the last 12 years, I have worked in various community settings with people with complex needs such as mental health, substance misuse and emotional difficulties.  I have been working in private practice since January 2018. I have experience of working with different themes in therapy including depression, anxiety, work related issues, self esteem, relationships and cultural issues.
I offer a relaxed and supportive approach and am available during the evenings at present.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

To support people to connect with their true selves and make positive changes. It is a real gift to be alongside someone throughout their therapy journey.

Why do you think integrative therapy is the most effective form of therapy?

Integrative therapy is effective as it provides a more holistic and individualised approach specific to the clients needs. A one size fits all approach to therapy can lead to the client being 'missed' feeling struck or frustrated in the process. I enjoy work in an integrative way as it allows more adaptability and creative ways of working.

How would you describe your therapy session & approach?

I offer a relaxed and supportive approach. I enjoy using Creative Approaches in my therapy with clients. I also have a keen interest in themes that explore identity, culture and belonging within a therapeutic setting.

What are your Top 3 professional achievements so far?

1. Completing my MSc Psychology Course during the pandemic whilst working fulltime. 2. Facilitating my own wellbeing workshop in 2019. 3. Making the transition from Probation Officer to Therapist.
